THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD! THERE IS NO MISSING N6.2M FROM SUG ACCOUNT - SUG SECRETARY GENERAL, COMR. KELVIN ONYEBUCHI

THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD! THERE IS NO MISSING N6.2M FROM SUG ACCOUNT
- SUG SECRETARY GENERAL, COMR. KELVIN ONYEBUCHI

I have two questions. One to the SRC and one to NAU Times. Please, Mr. Speaker and SRC, where and how was the missing N6.2m generated and in which bank account? As we know the school have not released funds for the union and the only source of fund for the union is coming from the TTF, now did the TTF generate N6.2m in how many months? I want to state emphatically clear that no money is missing, not even a kobo. If as alleged the Mr. President took a kobo from the SUG purse, then there was no possible way he could do that without my knowledge and that of the whole executive council.
As the secretary general of SUG, I stand to counter the SRC making them understand that if SUG had such money at her disposal, then believe me, UNIZIK BRAIN FACIO, the students’ symposium that awarded laptop, refrigerator and generator to the students could have awarded cars. I would have personally assured this. The same president SRC is suspending is the same person that called the first ever SUG, SRC and SJC joint congress where we discussed the way forward for our students and our great institution. SRC, my question is this: why do you want to hamper the success of this administration with your politics? Although you people have the right to suspend whosoever you so wishes, also know that the union executives pledges their loyalty only to the students of Unizik and not to the house (SRC).
This suspension saga only reminds me of the letter of summon by the SRC to the President which the president did not answer. The reason is this, before the SRC summoned the President, Mr. President had already fixed an appointment with AIRTEL, fighting for the success of the SUG week which is for the benefit of the whole genius zikites. This was explained to the house after they threatened to suspend the President, and yet they went ahead with their suspension. Now, I’m asking, who comes first, the entire students of Unizik or some students of Unizik in the SRC? Even as this suspension still comes, why is it accompanied with a false rumour of mismanagement of funds to the extent of N6.2m by the President?
Therefore, I appeal that the SRC revoke their unjustifiable suspension and every slanderous and libelous statements and actions because there was no N6.2m not to talk of being missing.
My number two question is to NAU Times. But before I continue, I must appreciate your efforts in keeping our student’s informed. Now, why would a web blog which is still growing in the journalism world lack objectiveness which is a core pillar to the principles of journalism? Why would you make a political statement appear to be true even when we know the truth? Don’t you know that there is a difference between ‘someone stole’ and ‘someone was alleged to steal’? Please, it is about time we acted FOR THE LOVE OF UNIZIK and not to kill achievement.

COMR. KELVIN ONYEBUCHI
SUG, SECRETARY GENERAL

UNIZIK SUG TREASURER JOINS THE LIST OF SUSPENDED OFFICERS

UNIZIK SUG TREASURER JOINS THE LIST OF SUSPENDED OFFICERS

The Unizik SUG treasurer was among the executive officers, who were suspended for two weeks.
The SRC had suspended the treasurer, after he failed to defend the statement he made during a leadership conference of the three arms of the Union Government. According to the house, the treasurer stated during the conference, that the Union used N700 000 from the Coffers, to bail two students who were locked up in a police cell.
The treasurer who was summoned before the house, to defend his statement, blatantly told the house, that his earlier statement was a lie, and that he was only joking at the time.
The infuriated members of the house saw “insanity” in the act, and decided to suspend him for two weeks.

UNIZIK VC UPHOLDS THE SUSPENSION OF SUG PRESIDENT

UNIZIK VC UPHOLDS THE SUSPENSION OF SUG PRESIDENT

The polity of the union Government at Nnamdi Azikiwe University is gradually heating up. What was seen as a joke few days ago is becoming hotter than furnace.
Sequel to the suspension of the SUG president Comr. Ibe Chukwunonso CICO by the SRC two days ago. The Vice Chancellor Prof Ahaneku summoned all the three arms of the union government for a meeting this morning, to discuss the polity of the government.
During the meeting which lasted for about two hours, the SRC bared their mind on the reasons that led to the suspension of the union president. According to them the president had refused to appear before the house when he was summoned to answer questions with regards to the missing TTF Funds.
The VC who listened intently to the students, upheld the suspension and advised the union president to appeal his suspension through his attorney general, if he so wish.
Meanwhile Campus Spy gathered during interaction with the lawmakers, that they are set to take the issue to any length, according to them, the recent behavior of the Union president, was a slap to their face and they won’t take it lightly.
Speaking with Campus Spy after the meeting, a legislator who requested that his identity remain undisclosed, he says “the house have not started looking into the missing TTF Funds, the Union president will have to appeal to the house first, through his attorney general, as advised by the Vice Chancellor”. He went further to say that the appeal is expected only after the president must have served his two weeks suspension. Only then can the house start the investigation of the missing TTF Funds.
Political pundits in the institution have advised, that the union president be careful, so as to avoid being the second president to be impeached by the SRC.

THE SUG PRESIDENT UNIZIK COMR. IBE CHUKWUNONSO CICO SUSPENDED FROM OFFICE

THE SUG PRESIDENT UNIZIK COMR. IBE CHUKWUNONSO CICO SUSPENDED FROM OFFICE

The president students union government Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Comr. Ibe chukwunonso CICO, has been suspended from office by the students representative Council over embezzlement of funds.
The SRC during a sitting which lasted till 8pm yesterday, unanimously decided that the SUG president Comr. Ibe CICO should relinquish his office to his deputy until further notice.
CICO was suspended after he failed to answer convincingly to the charges against him. He was charged for embezzlement of the TTF funds.
According to the house, the SUG president opened a new account for the collection of TTF funds without notifying the Financial Secretary, thereby making himself the only signatory to the said account. He was also accused of lying to the house, as he failed to account for the N1000 renewal fee for all commercial vehicles in Unizik. The said money in question is in tune of over two million.
It will also be noted that the president appeared in court earlier this year where he defended charges of electoral malpractice against him. It was also just last month that he dismissed all DOT workers.
The length of the suspension was not definite, as the house will reconvene to decide on further actions to be taken.
At the time of filling this report, Campus Spy gathered that the SUG Vice president Comr. Agulefo Queen has resumed duties as president, pending the final decision of SRC.
