BREAKING NEWS: UNIZIK SUG PRESIDENT THREATENS TO DISSOLVE THE SRC.

BREAKING NEWS: UNIZIK SUG PRESIDENT THREATENS TO DISSOLVE THE SRC.

The embattled SUG president Comr. Ibe Chukwunonso CICO has sent a letter to the SRC demanding an apology. The president felt slighted by the actions of the SRC, who accused him of embezzling over 6million naira. The president in his letter to SRC, demands that the SRC apologize for indicting him or face dissolution. According to him he inaugurated the SRC, and has the power to dissolve the house unless they apologize for the accusations they leveled against the president.
As at the time of filing this report, the SRC are yet to sit to take a decision.
The questions on the lips of every student are these “Will the SRC apologize?”  And “Can the SUG president dissolve the House?” These might be yet another leadership tussle in the institution
Below is the content of the letter from CICO to SRC.
“RE: INVITATION TO SRC MEETING
Greetings from the executive council of SUG and the entire students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
It is with profound joy that we acknowledge your works and active check on our government to ensure a balance of power. Nevertheless, it is a thing of irony that the SRC is working to the detriment of this government.
We are writing in response to your letter dated 2nd July, 2014 which we received on 3rd July, 2014 mandating the president to appear before the house on 4th July, 2014. It is outrageous that the SRC have gone beyond what the students expect from them and this is evident in the scandalous accusation leveled on the president over mismanagement of funds amounting to N6.2million which is obviously affecting the union’s integrity before our students and the president’s political life after school and possibly years to come. It is on this note that we emphatically demand an apology from the SRC for attempting to deceive the entire public; a special apology from the Speaker for allowing himself to be used or rather connive with some house members to deceive the entire house members; for unconstitutionally spreading the news of suspension when it is no part of the constitution he swore by; for having not followed due process in their proceedings; for insulting the executive arm of the union and disrespecting the authority being bestowed on it directly by the students; for attempting to rubbish our efforts via the media; for attempting to render the president homeless by commanding him to vacate his apartment which depicts how heartless the SRC can be on their fellow students not minding union’s efforts and how tough we have fought for people that have problems with their landlords; for tarnishing the image of the union and making some persons loose interest in the union which we tried so hard to rebuild.
We therefore cease to recognize the house which the president inaugurated through the power bestowed on him by the constitution if this apology is not well published within 7-days. As far as our government is concerned, there is no SRC until all the false publications against the president and the government is removed and an apology rendered. And, when next you want to invite the president, give me 7 days notice, he is a student like every other person, he is not a non-academic student, as the SUG president, he has 100 times more responsibilities than you have.
Thanks as we look forward to receiving your apology.”
This letter was signed by the SUG President, Comr. Ibe Chukwunonso Cico and the SUG secretary general, Comr. Kelvin Onyebuchi and was submitted to the SRC house few hours ago.
